Security Update

Dear Church Family,

I want to take a moment to speak heart-to-heart with you about something that is very important to our leadership team: the safety and well-being of every person who walks through the doors of Pursue Church.

Everything we do in this area comes from a place of love. We love our church family, our children, our families, and everyone who joins us each Sunday. We want Pursue to be a place where people can worship freely, encounter God, and feel safe and at home.

You may have noticed an increased security presence this past Sunday, including local law enforcement. Recent circumstances, along with the world we live in today, have prompted us to take a closer look at our security procedures and consider how we can better protect our church family. Out of an abundance of caution, we have been working closely with local authorities to evaluate our current security measures and make sure we are doing everything reasonably within our ability to provide a safe environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

While it saddens me that these precautions are necessary, I believe that caring for the people God has entrusted to us means being willing to prepare, be watchful, and take reasonable steps to protect one another.

This is not about fear. It is about wisdom, preparation, and loving one another well.

As we move forward, we will be making a few changes to strengthen our security:

Main Entry — Doors Locked at 11:15 AM

Beginning this Sunday, all exterior doors will be locked 15 minutes after our morning service begins, at 11:15 AM.

We know that sometimes life happens and you may arrive late. If you arrive after 11:15, simply press the video buzzer at the main entrance. A member of our safety team will either unlock the door remotely or come meet you and welcome you inside.

Our goal is never to make anyone feel unwelcome. Our goal is simply to make sure we are doing our best to protect those who are already inside.

For your peace of mind, please know that even when the exterior doors are locked, anyone inside the building can exit at any time. Our doors are security compliant and designed to allow free and easy exit from the inside.

On-Site Law Enforcement

We are also actively applying for a security grant that would allow us to have a dedicated Wise County deputy present on our campus each Sunday morning.

Whether you have a background in law enforcement, military, first response, security, or simply have a vigilant mindset and a desire to protect others, we would love to talk with you.

We will continue to trust God completely while also doing our part to be wise, prepared, and watchful.
